A senior officer who rushed to the aid of a partner that was assaulted by a knifeman has been awarded the Monarch's Honor for Valor.

Sergeant Tim Ansell struggled against 27-yr-old Jacob Brown subsequent to he pressed a knife to the throat of his fellow officer Sergeant Marc Foster.

Brown initiated the assault as the law enforcement personnel and their colleague, PC Marcus Wolstencroft, were talking to a driver subsequent to a road collision in Whalley Range in summer 2023.

Brown attacked with blade the two Sergeant Ansell and Sergeant Foster before Police Constable Wolstencroft incapacitated him with a electric weapon.
